Revised Trip Plan: Detroit->Arches->Yellowstone ...

I am extremely grateful to many in this forum who provided advise, suggestions & information, which leads to a revised trip plan.

As suggested, I booked 3 days' hotel in West Yellowstone. It's not inside Yellowstone but the hotel is so much more kids' friendly.
