I fully understand your emotions.

However, several facts to consider:

1. Lung cancers are much more difficult to treat than breast cancers for lots of reasons. One is that lung is a vital organ. Breasts are much less vital.

2. Lung cancer was a rare disease before cigarette smoking was invented. In fact, lung cancer was much more rare than stomach cancer long time ago. Now when stomach cancer is sharply decreased, lung cancer is sharply increased.

3. Except quit smoking, other means of prevention of lung cancer is pretty much out of control of general public. Since you don't trust american cancer society so much, I guess even they develop new effective ways to fight against lung cancer, what we can do is still quite limited to quitting smoking and education of quitting smoking.

Air pollution? what we can do? We can't just climb up to the sky and clean the air. Maybe we can consider giving up driving and using walking feet or bicycle instead.

Any other constructive advice?
