occurred at the beginning of the 20th century, very much coincided with the advent of the synthetic chemical industry. That is a huge problem. Any other potential causes of lung cancer, have been masked by the demonization of tobacco. In the US, it is politically lethal to say anything against anti-smoking. Smoking politics is sickening and killing thousands innocent people. I am sure you will agree, ACS is at its best at playing smoking politics.
Constructive advice? Well I don't exactly advise anyone go destructively against NCI or ACS. However, until their tone and culture change about the true cause of lung cancer. Not much will get done. It is we the people, who are responsible to tell them - your presidents former or current, your local representatives, senators, politicians, your ACS chaptors, even your misinformed doctors, nurses, that tens of thousands nonsmoking people are dying from lung cancer, that even more - hundreds of thousands smoker's lung cancer may not be caused singularly by smoking, that government must put more resources into lung cancer research and early screening.
This picture - smoker lung cancer patients left to die in SHAME, nonsmoker lung cancer patients left to die in ANGER & FRUSTRATION - must change. So many lives, so many broken families.
November 3, 2008. When Madelain died, Barack was so afraid of political damage, he hid the true cause of her death. Guess what?
She died of lung cancer at the age of 86. And, making matters worse for every lung cancer patients, both Barack and Madelain smoke.
So, go ahead, tell Barack and others, that smoking is not healthy and can cause cancer if they have not already known that, also tell them that smoking does not cause 87% of lung cancers. Smoking causes nearly all small-cell-lung-cancer (10-15% of all LC), smoking causes majority of squamous-cell-lung-cancer (0.7x35%), and a minority of adenocarcinoma and BAC (0.3x45%). Adding up, smoking causes about 55(+/-10)% of all lung cancers. Many light smokers and former smokers lung cancer are not caused by cigarette smoking. [note - I have gathered much more statistics and some analysis of US lung cancer data, if you want more details let me know. ]
Do tell Barack, if he ever dies from lung cancer, there is no need to feel shame, but please, in his power, do help the hundreds of thousands LC patients (millions, if family members counted) who are struggling with lung cancer right now.
I will bow to you in person if you do what I just advised.
