Crying, or an emtional response can be a compensation

 

for the inability or lack of willingness to think.

Ask her questions often. Give her all the time she needs to think over.

Recollect your daily experiences or events in the news. Point out to her what you see on the streets. Ask her what she would do in those situations.

Remind her to feel less and think more. If she wants to feel, feel her own existence first.
