Both me and my hus are commuting to the city each day and my hus has to drop the baby in the daycare in the morning, then I went to pick him up in the afternoon, so basically I have to leave home at 6am each morning, so I can come back around 6pm to pick up my son. I'm working in mid-town, and living in Edison area where lots of chinese and indians are living there, my commute is 1 and half hr each way. If u work at 150 street, it's gonna be a little longer. Edison is a good place to commute since there're Metuchen/Edison/MetroPark station which has express service to the city. The school system in North Edison is quite ok, but not extremely good. Or u can living in Jersey city which u can take path to NYC, it's easy commute, but no good public school, plus, it's very expensive living there and it's apartment only.
If u work in city and live in Jersey, u pay NY state tax plus federal tax, not double taxed.
