去Cornell还是Berkeley？ 请各位（特别是学工程的）的出出主意！

孩子被Cornell和UC Berkeley工程学院录取．Berkeley 学校综合排名第２２，整个学校科学院院士有１３０多个，仅次于哈佛，工程院院士近百个，仅次于ＭＩＴ，学校５１个博士学科中，４８排名全美前十名．Ｂerkeley 教职工获得过２１个Ｎobel奖（其中８位还在学校任教），２５个毕业生获过Nobel奖过，还有２０位在该校工作过的人得Ｎobel奖（Berkely的Ｎobel奖很多都是物理或化学奖）．Berkeley 的工程学院近次于ＭＩＴ,工程本科排第二，研究生排名第三，学院半数falcuty是工程院院院士和科学院院士（８７个工程院院士，１０多个科学院士）．Cornell 综合排名虽然排第１５名，但学术上跟Ｂerkeley好象不在一个档次上，她的工程专业排８－１０名（本科和研究生都是）．Berkeley的学校地理位置在旧金山湾区附近，当然比Ｃornel好．

本来毫不犹豫选Ｂerkeley的，可是Ｂerkeley只给＄２５０００grant(相当于奖学金），需要贷款＄３５０００（student load　１００００多，家里贷２００００多），而Cornell提供grant近＄５５０００．就是说去Cornell全免费（包括住宿和吃饭）．

我和孩子他妈都主张去Ｂerkeley，但不知多花这么多钱是否值得．请各位（特别是学工程的）的出出主意！谢谢！
