We brought a new house from a builder 3 weeks ago, everything went through a regular process such as the closing was done in the title company. Today, we got a letter and said since the builder didn't pay some materials and labor to another contractor, based on the state construction lien law, "it allows some unpaid contractors, subcontractors to file liens aginst your property even if you have made payment in full.
We are pretty angary and anxious about this letter, even the builder is now out of business, since it is clear title deal, we should not be reponsible for any unpaid issue related to this builder. It just likes a case that we brought a TV from target with an agreed price and got a TV, then we should not take care whether target paid this TV to the manufactory.
Anyone has any suggestion? Thanks
