问题请教: LG got Grave's disease (甲亢)& needs RAI treatment

LG's doctor precribe the RAI (radiation Iodine) to treat his grave's disease (he can not choose the medicine treatment option because of its multiple side effects), the doctor said the RAI dose would be within the range of 5-20 mCi, not exceeding 20 mCi. The thing is we've been trying to get pregnant for quite sometime, but now our plan is put on hold because of his disease.

I understand the first 7-10 days of seperation to avoid the radiation emit, but how long should we wait to be safe before we can get back to our pregnancy plan? 3 months, 6 months? or more? I believe his sperm quality will be somewhat impacted by the radiated iodine. I am afraid to have a genetic defect baby if we conceipt too soon after the RAI treatment.
