Findings
A 2.0 X 1.7 X 1.4 cm WELL-CIRCUMSCRIBED hypoechoic structure with posterior enhancement and associated vascularity is seen in the left neck submandibular region, corresponding to the area of palpable abnormality. This appears to be located within the submandibular gland, given the “claw” sign, though it is possible that the structure is immediately adjacent with mass effect. There is no definite fatty hilum, and the structure is ovoid rather than reniform. No other masses are seen in the immediately adjacent region.
Impression:
2.0 x 1.7 x 1.4 CM hypoechoic structure in the left submandibular region., potentially within the submandibular gland. Give vascularity, structure most likely solid, and thus could represent a submandibular gland lesion such as pleomorphic adenoma, or an alternative consideration would be an immediately adjacent mass such as an enlarged abnormal lymph node. Correlate clinically, and consider FNA. Follow up ultrasound and/or further evaluation with cross-sectional imaging could also be considered.
