I bet your hyperplastic polyp was not from sigmoid colon or rectum. Some experts think hyperplastic polyps from right colon are actually sessile serrated adenoma and should be followed as adenoma. If not the case, there might other reasons that your doctor wanted to follow up you more closely. Call her office and ask why.
