Thyroid problem. Thx,

Almost a decade ago, I had hyper-throid. I am found out to be hypo last week. Could you give me some suggestions? If I don't answer your questions right away,
I will answer them in a few hours. Thank
you in advance for your feedback.

I am 43. Basically quite
healthy. My child is 15. It was natural birth. I exercise and walk every day. NOt walking as much any more since left knee
started hurting months ago. I don't
sleep too well. I wake up quite a few
times and urinate. I eat everything
including quite a bit of veggies and fruit. For years I have not had much seafood due to the thryroid condition
I was having. I do not take any
medication and I have taken any for years. I do get tired easily. But it has
been this way for years. I am not
diabetic. Blood test last week showing
after-meal glucose as 76. Menstruation
normal. 13 times a year. Blood pressure, pulse are all normal. For 11 years I use the salt without the added
sodium. But when I cook, I rarely use
salt anyway.

1. 2004 diagnosed as Hyper. Took medication and then stayed off medication.  EVerything was fine at first.

2. 2007, 2008 had really stressful events. Blood test 01/2009 showing tsh < 0.005.   t3 as 12.2 and t4 as 45.44.

3. Did not use any medication. Tried really hard to reduce stress and not get too exhausted. 05/2012 TSH, T3, T4 were all normal. Last year tested twice in May and
October. Both were normal. In May, the result showed t4 as 1.2. t3 as
3.1. TSH as 2.36.

4. I have lost a few pounds this year without trying. So to be cautious, I got tested last
week. Now I am hypo. t4 is 0.54. tsh is 14.01. The blood work has
a long list, but t3 is not available. My
PCP gave me a prescription.

Could you tell me?

1. What should I do to get back to normal without using
medication? The same as when I had
hyper? REduce stress and not do too much
every day?

2. What are the possible causes besides perimanopause? My life has been going on OK. It is
definitely not perfect. But then I don't
know anyone who has a perfect life.

Many, many thanks.  It came as a shock to me today.
