biochemically, nothing is known about this herb/vegetable. Flavones ('huang 'tong) are very common and can be found in many plants, and nothing special.
It was TRADITIONALLY used to treat Herpes zoster (带状包疹)and dysentery (痢疾), and only recently been explored, or 'exploited', or 'exported', to treat or even CURE cancer, - even better, MANY types of cancers.
I do believe it is anti-inflammatory, since it has been used to relieve zoster for many years in Malaysia, and if it tastes like it looks (crown daisy), I wouldn't mind starting patch in my yard.
This also reminds me another herbal medicine: artemisinin, 青篙素. It cures malaria (疟疾), and it kills the bacteria by reacting with iron. It is also anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic through iron interference. Rumor has it that the discovery of artemisinin might bring the 1st Nobel medicine prize to China based on 2011 Lasker award success. http://www.artemisinin101.com/Artemisinin-Anti-Cancer.html
