Some tumor viruses have their DNA integrated into cellular DNA, causing more efficient expression of their own genes (for example, E6 and E7 in HPV case), not causing a gene mutation in the cellular DNA which is responsible for cancer development. Other viruses do not commonly integrate their DNA, such as EBV.
