This is often so-called dipstick in clinic. It is accurate in a way it tests what it supposes to test.  However, there are several points which are important to know.  It only tests hemoglobin but not red blood cells, which can only been seen under microscope. When dipstick is strong positive but not many RBC under microscope, there could be a condition called rhabdomyolysis (layterm muscle degradation) as the dipstick positivity is due to myoglobin from muscle.  If you continue to have blood in dipstick, you will need a microspic study by an official urinalysis.
