My son has dental cavity, what should I do?

Greetings to everyone. 

My son is 30 months old, one of his big teeth has developed dental cavity, blackish in color.  So far it has not bothered him.  We brush his teeth before he goes to bed since he was 1 year old.  He doesn't eat too much candy, but the mother has this habid of feeding him milk before bedtime, but we brush his teeth afterward.

Is anything we can do to contain the cavity?  Should we take him to the dentist to take out the bad tooth?  Thanks very much in advance.
