polycarbonate clear bottle plastic (#7) is the worst of course;

polystyrene is also suspect;

other types, polyethylene (LDPE, HDPE), and polypropylene shall not have endocrine-disrupting effect except that the manufacturer may use plasticizers - such as naphthalates. I am trying to find out the extent of plasticizer usage - it may not be easy as one manufacturer I contacted 2 months earlier has not yet given me answer. Most disposable plastic water bottles are made with PE material.
