Hysterectomy is used as surgical treatment for dysfunctional uterine bleeding when:
1.Dysfunctional uterine bleeding does not respond to medicine or other treatment. These options include taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) or progestin, using a progestin IUD (Mirena), or endometrial ablation.
2.Childbearing is completed and you do not wish to try treatment with medicine.
3.Symptoms of dysfunctional uterine bleeding outweigh the risks and discomforts of surgery.

The size, location, and involvement of other abdominal organs determines which type of hysterectomy is most appropriate.

LAVH, LSH and TLH are all newer surgeries and require the surgeon to have special training. LSH is also known as subtotal or partial hysterectomy, the cervix is left intact.

2.手术后的前1-3星期,尽量多休息,但也不是绝对的卧床不动,可以走动、轻微活动。理由是:This helps prevent problems after surgery like blood clots, pneumonia, and gas pains.
3.手术后4-6星期避免提超过20磅的重物;
4.Avoid vaginal intercourse during the first 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.
5.4-6星期后follow-up with your Dr. or as directed prior to discharge.
