This tells me that your daughter is older than 11 now. It is a common prodedure, yet kind of "old school" since the extractions may possibly cause narrower facial contour among some others.

You can have a second opinion. I normally don't like the extraction way, and would recommend start ortho consult at least 7 yo to have "Phase I" treatment whenever possible.
