A sincere advice seeker.

Thank you all for the inspiring info. I actually have the dream of becoming a US clinician for 2 years. It's the time to make the final decesion now. I'd like to seek advices from you since you all have gone through all these process already.

My current status is:

A fresh J-1 holder doing Posdoc in a top US university. I have MD (from China), PhD (from Hong Kong). I did a master degree in Urology in China, having 1 year of working experience in Urology after master degree. Then I went to Hong Kong. I have not touched clinical work for 4 years. Now I'm 32. Oral English is not bad, but sometime still can not catch what native speakers say.

I'm married. Have a girl. My wife should be able to support me if I decid to take USMLE.

I must say research and clinical work are equally enjoyable/non-enjoyable for me. My drive of take USMLE is solely money. I assume the effort I have to put on rearch would be pretty much the same as that on Taking USMLE/Residence. ( Please fell free to correct if I'm wrong).

So my question are:
1) Do you think taking USMLE/Residence is a wise move for my case now? I'm scared by the hardship of residence and not sure if I can cope with the demanding Caucasian patient in the future.
2) I don't think I can get a green card before match. My plan is to apply J-1 waiver about 2 year later, doning research job as a H1-B1 holder and wait for match. Is this plan feasible?? Will the hospital sponsor Green card for me in the future?
