Most of the times we do not need to open the head (craniotomy), rather go through the nose (trans-sphenoidal).

 

Need to have brain MRI (oituitary protocol) and MRA, and CT exam before hand. We use intra-operative CT for more accurate localization and to avoid complications --  so far this is the only neurosugery center in the US to have such advanced facility and experience.
