Dental x-ray uses relatively low doses of radiation.

However, the damage is cumulative and no one could and should say for sure it is free of any risk or it would definitely result in any condition that is clinically significant.

All we can say is that compared to other x-ray procedures; the doses for dental x-ray are relatively low.

My policy is that I would never use the conventional dental x-ray because digital dental x-ray has been available for many years. Digital x-ray uses only 10 percent of the doses that the conventional dental x-ray uses. Those dentists who still use the high doses of x-ray will not get business from me because to me, they do not care enough about the well-beings of their patients.
