Recently I had an ultrosound check-up. It shows my fibroid has become big. I have had it for over 10 years. My doctor suggests that I should have a hysterectomy. Thinking of having a surgery scares the hell of me, not to mention it is a major operation. I read that the death rate of hysterectomy is 10 to 20 every 1,000 operations. I can't concentrate at work and lost appetite for food. What shall I do? I do have an option. That is have ultrosound eliminate the fibroid using the ExAblate technology. Like other procedures, except Hysterectomy, it can't guarantee that fibroids won't come back and the insurance won't cover it.
Good sides: it is a noninvasive outpatient procedure and doesn't require a lot of recovery time. My doctor says if in six months, it grows bigger and has't shrunk, I'll have no choice but having a Hysterectomy. Has anyone here had either of the two procedures? Please help me. I want to hear from you about these two options.
