How is you mammogram report described the calcifications? If they use "clusters of microcalcifications", then they ARE warried about breast cancer (it is interesting that mammogram is the only medical practice which needs the US congress to regulate even how the words they use in the mammogram report).
True, others can also cause calcifications in the breast. If the calcifications are linear or tube like, they could represent vassel calcifications (very common) or milk duct calcifications (not so common), among others.
So I guess your report is a catagory 2 report(that is why the 6-month follow up), right? Follow up is appropriate. If you have good insurance and have good access to care facilities (a physician friend, etc), you could get a breast MRI exam which is very accurate (I think recently approved by Medicare for reimbursment for additional breast lesion work up, but don't quote me on this, I need to check with someone).
