some info

1. There is a difference between Crohn disease (CD) and ulceratice colitis (UC). Both of them are inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). You need endoscopy and biopsy for the definitive diagnosis. Please be sure you have a definitive diagnosis before you start to worry about it. Otherwise, it may just ruin your life for unnecessary concerns.

2. Children of parents with IBD are between 3 and 20 times more likely to develop IBD than the general population. However, there is currently no way to predict the risk in an individual child.

3. Genetic factors may be more important in CD than in UC.

4. Numerous environmental factors have been implicated in the pathogenesis of IBD, like smoking, nutritional deficiency, etc. These factors are more likely to contribute to disease in susceptible subjects.
