律师不接的案子

几个月前在NEW YORK CITY KOHL"S 购物出门警铃大叫，发现有货品没配钱（真的是忘了），解释无人听，招徕警察，我被送进警局，打指纹，照相，进法庭，法官判“六个月会被dismiss“
现收到 KOHLS -LOSS PREVENTION 的信要我支付罚款，原文如下：

Dear @@@
You have failed to respond to my letter dated 08/26/2005. As you have previously been informed, you are responsible $200.00 as a civil penalty for your removal of kohl’s merchandise without paying for it. If you not immediately make payment, kohl’s will be forced to pursue a civil lawsuit against you for this amount as well as attorney’s fees and costs.

Please send your payment via check or money order to me in the enclosed postage pre-paid envelope.

kohls 信里时间有误，案子发生在08/24/05, 不是08/26/05

我人在加州，律师这个案子嫌太小，不接，我该怎么办？
