MRI is safe, not CT which uses x-ray and should be avoided in first trimester of pregnancy. However, there is no data, either safe or not safe, regarding using MRI contrast (gadolinium) during the entire pregnancy. In another word, there has been no bad outcome report on MRI contrast usage during pregnancy although such exam is being routinely performed.
