I guess if you skipped IUI and directly go for IVF, you might have blocked fillipen tubes. Otherwise, you should try IUI first because it cost less and it is not painful.
In my case (IUI), the doctor said that the amout of clomid (or any other madical to stimulate follicles) is not much because this is the first circle and she need to know my response to a certain medicine. Ideally, they want to see 2 or 3 dominent follicles.

By the way, I heard that some clinics will charge a fee about 3 trials total. If you succeed before the third, you still pay that amount. But if you don't get preganent, you can get all your money back.
