In the USA, there is independent journalism, there is a profession called investigative journalist, if you have read Washington Post, New York Times, Boston Globe, Houston Chronicles, or watched Dateline, 60 minute, 20/20.

In China, there is state-tightly-controlled media, and there is state-loosely-controlled-but-money-tightly-controlled media.  There is no independent journalism.  Fang does not qualify.
