一道小学题能看出你小孩的数学潜力 - 讲给他听

我女儿上星期在 beestar.org 碰上一道数学题问我. 一开始我没当回事. 讲着讲着发现这道看起来简单的小学应用题包含着不一般的数学概念和技巧. 多少年来我们这些做父母的早已习惯列方程. 上中学后张三李四都会用方程照猫画虎地解题. 但在小学五年级没学方程的前提下巧妙地解出这样的应用题需要小孩非凡的想象力和数学智慧.

我女儿虽然猜对了答案, 但一开始并没有理解其中的奥妙. 经我反复讲解后她茅塞顿开, 一下子好象上了个台阶. 现在她举一反三, 对这一类问题有了清楚的认识. 受益很深.

如果你有五到六年级的孩子, 一定让他试试. 不管他一开始会不会, 最后要给他讲明白. 在这个过程中你会对你小孩的数学潜力有个更好的了解. 我觉的如果你小孩挺快就搞通了这道题, 他的数学智力应该培养去 Harvard, Princeton 这样的顶尖大学.

OK. This is the problem #10 of Beestar Grade 5 GT Math Exercise - week 11, ex. 2, spring 2008.

1/4 of the marbles in a box are white and the rest are red. After 24 red marbles are removed, the fraction of white marbles becomes 4/13. How many white marbles are there in the box?
