The Consumer Reports "level of concern" for lead is 0.5 micrograms per day, based on California's Proposition 65 regulations. This means a serving of Gold Standard 100% Whey has an estimated 0.28 micrograms of lead. In a 2020 study, researchers also noted that whey protein powders generally have lower concentrations of lead and other heavy metals compared to weight-gainer products.
