我觉得单纯比较４０１K的回报有误导的倾向

每个公司提供的４０１计划都不同。运气好的朋友，公司可能提供Fidelity, Vanguard的基金并有多种选择。运气不好的朋友，公司可能只提供少数Loaded Funds. 我以前雇主的４０１计划就是这样，所有基金全有4.75%的Sales Charge. 并且基金的Expense Ratio也很高。这样的计划表现自然会不太好。

另外，你的Asset Allocation今年也许表现不佳，但从长远看可能更有潜力。

所以看４０１的回报还要因人而异。不要因为今年的回报不好就忙着调整。只要你的Asset Allocation比较合理就没必要泄气。４０１计划比的是长力，不是一时的得失。

我认为要避免单纯追逐回报，比如今年Emerging and Foreign markt回报好，你就加大明年在这上的投资比例。结果往往适得其反。
