gold or goldbug has its own problem, but when government prints money willy nilly, it is insane not to have some as insurance policy. you buy health insurance not because you want to get sick. on the other hand, you wish the money get wasted.

of course, ponzi schemers always want you to participate in their game, while hoarding gold means you have the means to protect yourself by taking some money out of the system they created, that is why they hate it.
