haha, deeply under water, then you don't have to pay the mortgage either.

The bank may have not known when it's on the sheriff's sale as a tax sale, anyhow, there is an one month period waiting for the bank or you to pay the tax, bank should know that by that time, then the bank or you can get it back even in that time without pay any interest to the buyer of the sheriff's sale.

After this period, bank or you may still redeem it back, for 1 or 2 months, but interest should be paid. After this redeem period, then the buyer can file the case to prothonotary court, after that, neither you nor the bank can redeem it back any more.

Then, after that, say, the tax + penalty $10,000, the buyer got it by bidding to $50,000. You owe the bank $100,000. Then the court will return $40,000 to the bank, and you end up with nothing. No money, no liability either. The mortgage will be wiped out by the tax sale.
