Once the tenant lived there for a long time, landlord has to paint the whole house for next tenant. At least you no need to pay the all cost to paint the whole house. That why I asked you how long you rented there. 4 years is pretty long time. You are the landlord's good tenant.

It is the same when you live in a Apt. After a few years, when you move out, Apt onwer has to re-paint the unit. They won't charge you that, right?

You can also mentioned something you did or helped to landlord during past 4 years. e.g, you always paid the rent on time, you helped to keep the house in good shape. etc
