There should be no fee to open an IRA account at online discount broker, such as TDAmeritrade, Charles Schwab, Etrade, etc. Or Vanguard, Fidelity.

After you make your contribution, you can decide what to buy.

A broker, usually the expensive way to open an Roth IRA. It is vary how a broker can charge you per transaction.
