技术员Andy在Biotech Gilead十年的发财退休史。

This is a wide-spread story in biotech industry. It's a real story with a little bit modification to hide the identity of the storied folks.

Andy and Mike worked in the same Stanford Lab. Andy is a 22-year old technician, 在那儿工作两年了。Mike is a postdoc. Mike发表了一篇Nautre文章， Mike在九四年得到了一个start-up company，Gilead的offer， 他就顺便把年轻的Andy带过去了做了个research associate.

Andy进了公司，拿了20000股的stock option, priced at 1.0 dollar/per share, Gilead的stock在那时是五毛钱左右吧。公司还提供15%的优惠购买本公司的股票，Andy也不犹豫买了最大允许的限度。其余的钱Andy就吃光玩光。

Mike从scientist作到了director. Andy还是快快乐乐做他的技术员，只不过级别高了。这期间Gilead stock splited 3 次 (一变八)， 股价也涨到了十六块。Andy 的两万股就成了二百五十多万。再加上每年15% discount买股， Andy有了三百万!!!

十年期间，Mike发现Andy的车越开越好，从一辆破旧的Corolla, to brand new Miata, to BMW5, 反正是每两年一换，毫不含糊。2004年的秋天，Andy开了一辆brand new Porsche 911来到公司的campus, 正巧Mike也在趴他的Lexus. Mike一瞧Andy的车， 乐了，“Andy, you can't let your boss down! I am only driving Lexus!!!"

Andy一笑:"Mike，你被我抄了， 我要退休了!!!"

Mike已是两个孩子的爸了。Andy把他抄了的第二个月， 他就抄了Gilead去了一家start-up biotech.

2004年的Andy 才32岁。
