Domestic Violence - please advice

I was battered by my hu*****and and fled to our neighbor's house. He was a little bit drunk at that time. Our neighbor called the police and my hu*****and was taken away and charged as DV by the city. The police officer took some pics while I was in the hospital (I was sent to ER that night). My hu*****and does not have any criminal record before, though I told the police officer that he has the history of beating me… The police officer asked me to write a statement of this case and asked me to mention that my hu*****and beat me before even though I never asked for help. The judge issued me a TPO – I did not require it, the prosecutor filed it for me. My hu*****and pleaded not guilty and paid a bond so he does not need to stay in prison. He asked his brother and sister to tell me that he loves me so much and does not want to separate with me and our 4-month old son. He hopes that I can give him one more chance… He already got a lawyer and he wanted me to help him also. First, I do not know what to do, I wanted to give him another chance, but I’m still scared about him. I even did not know if he just wanted to cheat me into helping him to drop the case so he will not have any criminal record – he’s a doctor in a big hospital, he is afraid the case will affect his career… Second, I do not think I can help him with this anyway, because I am only the victim and the charge was placed by the prosecutor not me. Also, maybe it’s the time for him to learn a lesson. I am very upset and do not know what to do… PLEASE HELP…
