政府一般允许 two month rent deposit, eg, the security deposit of two month rent in Connecticut, or last month rent deposit and security deposit of one month rent in Massachusetts. Application deposit is a type of contracting law. The deposit is a pledge to enter a contract. It does not have to be written. If the applicant is not qualified, the deposit must be refunded fully. In this case, the applicant is qualified, but failed to signed a lease in the last hours. The whole process made me very uncomfortable and wasted my time. The applicant also stole several handrunds dollar stuff in the apt.
