Is an Application Deposit Refundable?
In some cases the application deposit is refundable. If someone else has already put in an application ahead of you the property manager should hold on to the deposit until they complete the background and credit check. If they rent out the property to the other applicant before getting to your application or they reject your application they should refund the money. But if they do accept your application and you decide not to rent the apartment then the property manager will likely hold onto the application.
Always ask whether the application deposit is refundable before submitting your paperwork. If the deposit is refundable make sure you get it in writing.
