Some lawyers offer free consulation, you can talk to them first, then find a lawyer which you think is good.

I am not quite sure about 'assualt' charge, I know for a fact that for domestic voilence, the punishment will be fine or community service.

For 'break in', does she have any evidence? Is her words against yours? Or, maybe you can try to explain it as misunderstanding. If you can post more details, maybe we can help you more.
