more than 90 day late payment of credit card bill

Guru,

I did not pay my credit card bill on time which is over 90 days overdue due to the lost mail.  After 90 days, I got the notice from credit card company with bill and penalty fee and I paid in full right away.  But now I find out the credit card company reported this to the credit score authority which decrease my credit score from 750 to 650.  

Is there any way to fix and improve this?  How will this affect my loan in the future?  This is the first and only time happened to me.  The bill amount is about $110.

Your insights and advice are welcome.
