If you like, I would like to share my "Monkey bread" with you. It is a modified sticky bread, I call it monkey bread, because you don't have to cut it. Just pull out one small roll directly from the bread.
Buy a package frozen dough (sometimes containing 36 roll dough)from grocery store. Use 18, thaw to room temperatue and soft. Grease a bundt pan, spread chopped pecan or walnuts, add colorful dried fruit. Roll the each dough with corn oil (not olive oil). Arrange dough at the bottom of a bundt pan. covered with aluminum foil. let it rise. At this point you can spread half package of the lemon pudding powder(usually 3 1/2 to 4 oz package) on the top of dough, or later. Mix 1/2 stick melted butter and sugar (based on your preference). When the dough is doubled or a little more, take off foil, evenly drop or pour the butter/sugar mixture on the dough. Bake at 375 F for 18-20 min. When the top is brown, or use chopsticks knock the top, you feel the hollow sound. It's done. Carefully take it and set on the rack for 2 min. Cover with a large round tray or plate, turn over. Serve warm. Because the dough is coated with oil, so, the resulted rolls just "stick" together and can be pulled out easily. In the New Year eve baking, you may put some fortune stuff (such as a coin, or penny) in one roll-dough, see someone is luck to get it.
Tips: Grease the bundt pan well including the middle tube wall. Set the bundt pan on a baking sheet, so it is easy to hanle, move in and out from the oven or picking the grease in case. During cooling, insert a small spetula between pan and bread to loose the edges, before turn over.
If you cannot find the frozen dough, use your own dough. I don't have this experience. But guess, after the first raise, hit down the dough, and divided into small roll, coated with oil, put in the bundt pan. Frozen dough takes longer time to reach the baking point than home made bread dough.
Actually, it is easy to make than read all these long paragraphs.
Thanks again. I found a good "Lao xiang". Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
