内国人自己有能力将分辨率提高，能让我们来一次满意的长城之旅。 北京地区长城总的分布格局为东西、北西两个体系。二者在怀柔县旧水坑西南分水岭上汇合，北结合点位于东经116。30'6.3”，北纬40。28'55"(图二)；南结合点位于东经116。29’38．9"，北纬40。27'45"。其中南结合点对于了解北京地区长城分布格局、研究北京地区两大长城体系，都具有十分重要的意义。为了位于今后称呼，特将此结合点命名为“北京结点”(简称“北京结”)。东西向长城体系，在北京结以东，以单层状为主，只在隘口附近才出现环状、多层状；在北京结以西，则比较复杂，除主要隘口附近构筑多层状、环状城墙外，在延庆盆地与北京平原之间的兵家必争之地，构筑相互平行的两道城墙彼此相依，形成完善的纵深防御体系。北西向长城体系，在北京市境内主要为单层状，与前者相比，结构简单得多，两大体系区别比较明显。
