The trouble is if you don't go with them for lunch in the begining, they won't ask you in the future. Then graduly you will become an island. It is really not good to become an island.
In my old working environment, most co-workers are old and it is easy to get along with if only I don't feel I am too young for hanging out with them. But here the associates are at least 5 years younger than me. Also they are more aggressive. As a matter of fact, they are really successful in their younger ages since the firm is really selective.
Yes, they don't really like to invite me. But the question is I am trying to get enrolled into their groups for my own purposes. The thing I am considering is if I need to pay that much for this kind of relationship. It is straight business.
Another questions is: For business people here, do you guys play golf? I find golf is so popular that you can't ignore. The cost is big. It is like everywhere I worked there is a golf tournament in the company and with the clients. Also you must know sports they like. It is kind of like the 2nd important thing for the business talk.
I guess at some point I need to learn and play golf.
Sometimes I really hate all of these. It is like I am doing everything for the others taste sack.
Working as a scientist is really better.
GOLF, AND LUNCH
