哪个title 好：Principal 还是 Director?

在公司做principle architect 3年了。这个职位不属于管理层，所以手下一直没人， 都是和其他组里的人合作。 因为活太多，最近自己招了一个contractor.

最近公司调整title。 我老板觉得以后我要多招人的话最好换个title, 建议什么program director之类的。但他也觉得principle 本身其实是一个很strong 的title。他让我自己去想一个title。

我在公司的好朋友强烈建议我去要个director 的title. 我挺犹豫的。 Director 属于管理这条路了对吧？据说走上管理就是一条不归路了， 不太可能回头做技术来。我不太喜欢整天文山会海的， 但其实现在principle architect 也差不多， 但是至少技术上是要on top of things. 而且principal 可上可下， 万一要找工作应该比较容易。 Director 再找工作估计选择面要小了， 只能往上找。

我是保留现在的title呢， 还是要个director? 或者有什么其他title能够技术和管理兼有？"Head of something" ? 多谢建议。
