very good question and very commonly asked

based on your answer managers can tell what you value most, what environment you appreciate more, team work or individual accomplishment, what is your preferred role, a leader or a supporter, what is your best expertise, etc. etc. There is no right or wrong answer. It is really up to you as an individual what you like most. But of cause, your answer will tell them if you are a good fit for the department. So if you want the job, quickly understand the department role in the company and teh position's responsibility, what they would like to hear. the flip side is that you may have to adjust yourself, which is not a small task if you don't naturally fit in.
