You need to know what you want first. If you want to mange people and talk to people , go for it. Otherwise, focus on technical expert. When I was offed the current position, I didn't think too much and took it. Now, I am in pain.  You have to be very good talking and understand all kinds of jokes and sports. We can't only talk about projects. For me, going to meeting all time is not easy wither. You have know what they are talking about and what they want from your people. It is hard because we can't say" can you say it again?" . There is no meeting minutes. If you miss the point, you miss it . I feel so tired everyday when I get home. I miss the old time I can play with my kids and there is nothing to worry.
It may get better with time. I just want to tell you to be prepared if you go for it.
