There is someone in my team who reports to me. She has been a pain in the neck for a while and I told her during our recent one on one that her performance was under expectation and she got very pissed. Very recently after our one on one she started to spread rumors on that I asked her some personal questions which made her very uncomfortable. She also told people (her previous bosses) that she didn't want to go to HR because she doesn't want to destroy my career. As a matter of fact, all we talked about was related to work Only and I never asking anything about her personal life and I am not interested at all. Her previous bosses told me that what she said was very different from what I said and they didn't share which kind of questions she was talking about. Now I am thinking to report it to HR as I do not wish her to keep spreading rumors in the company to ruin my reputation. On the other hand, I am also concerned on what she's planning to do if she knows that HR is notified. She's a little crazy and I won't be surprised that she will make a huge mess out of it.
This is the first time I managed people. Any advices are appreciated!!! Thank you!
