That is a very good and challenging question since I had such experience.
I understand and appreciate diversity since in today's business environment we are from all different countries with different cultures. Even if are we from the same country, our education and specialities can be very different.
I believe that communication is the key to solve the potential difference, conflicts, or confrontations. It hinges on that 1) be a good listener and try to understand him from his perspective whereas 2) try best to make my own thinking transparent.
With this attutide/strategy, I also would like to apply some business/tactic tools to enhance the solutions. For example, we can have a clear definition of ownship of different tasks, clear responsibility and accountablity....

Firstly, I would like to engage everyone align to our business/project objectives, and clarify our value drivers. Normally, the key elements of a project management are budget, schedule, and quality. The another key element, which people often ignore, is the management of relationship. In a business world, a successful management of relationship, which includes team dynamics, is vital for the success of an organization.
I would use some business metrics perform trade - off analysis, have a brainstorm like discussion to understand the consequences of each path forward.
