But your oppotunity of finding a bio or chem job is the best among all bio and chem people, because you only have BS, not over qualified, and you have 8 years of experience.  Although pay will not be good, but your chance of getting a job is many times that of bio or chem PHD.  If you want to switch to IT, you will need to devote some time to get certificates.  And there is no going back.  If you have not been doing bio/chem job for 2 years, they will regard you as no longer familar with the profession.
